A ground ops employee responsible for unloading and loading of an aircraft. Ops agents screen and board customers, coordinate, baggage and cargo compute weights and balances calculations and ensure aircraft is secure while at the gate.

Auxiliary power unit- a small gas turbine engine in the tail of the aircraft that provides power to aircraft systems while on the ground.

Crew resource management. A practice of open communication between all crew members (pilots & F/A) working a flight, designed to reduce errors and increase safety.

Also referred to as a domicile a SWA city where F/A and pilots begin and end their scheduled work assignment.

Also referred to as a trip. A scheduled sequence of flights assigned to FA to work.

The employee group that deals directly with provisioning agent job function. A part of the cabin services group.

A scheduled pairing with no overnights. A turn originates and returns to base the same day.

The employee responsible for stocking galley supplies. Removing trash, recyclables, cleaning the lavatory, and cleaning the galley floors. The provo agent job is part of the cabin services group.

For FA 6 month period following hire date during which employee leaders evaluate performance and provide mentoring to ensure he/she is a good fit for the position and the company.

Least Risk Bomb Location. A designated area of the aircraft where explosives can be positioned in order to minimized damage to the aircraft if detonated

Ramp agent (ramper)
A ground ops employee responsible for servicing the aircraft at the gate. RA marshall aircraft into and out of the gate area, load and unload baggage & cargo, fuel the aircraft, service lavs and at outstation remove trash and stock ice.

Recurrent training. Required annual training FA must attend to remain qualified to fly.

Reserve
A block of 1,2, or 3 days in which a FA is on call to work a pairing as needed.

Supervisior on duty. A leader who is on call 24 hours to handle irregular ops outside of normal business hours.

Also called a provisioning location cities served by SWA that support a warehouse and have provisioning agent who fully stock the aircraft.

Read before you fly. Briefing memos flight attendants are required to read before reporting to the aircraft for duty.

CSA
A ground operations employee who provides assistance to customers in the terminal. CSA's sell tickets, issue boarding passes, check baggage and provide flight info. CSA may work ticket counter, gate podiums or baggage claim

Outstation
A city served by SWA with no crew base or provisioning station. Basic cabin services like trash removed and ice are provided.

Customer of size. A customer who requires more than 1 seat belt for comfort and safety.

Able bodied assistant- A passenger selected by a FA to assist in an emergency or security situation.

Deadhead-A crew member maybe flown, or deadheaded from one station to the next as a passenger in order to begin or continue a pairing as a working crew member. Deadhead crew members are considered on duty.

Emergency medical kit- A kit containing medications used to treat illnesses.

The flight attendant assigned to the forward 1/3 of the cabin. A is responsible for making PA, conducting compliance checks and communicating with pilots, operations, and scheduling

800 fwd entry stowage 300,500,700 FWD entry OHB. Check secured with velcro tape. One red seal is intact. If is a seal is missing: 1. open AED and check to see if there are 2 sets of pads: one pre-connected to AED unit.
