Allegory

Alliteration
The repetition of the same constant sound at the beginning of 2 or more words.
Allusion
A figure of speech, reference/representation of/to a well known person, place, event, literary work, or work of art.
Analogy
A comparison between two things
Apostrophe
Addressing someone or something, usually not present, as though present.
Assonance
The repetition of vowel sounds anywhere in a line of poetry
Ballad
A narrative song written in quatrains
Blank verse
Poetry that is written in unrhymed iambic pentameter
Connotation
The attitudes and feelings associated with a word
Consonance
The repetition of consonant sounds anywhere in a line of poetry
Couplet
A pair of lines with rhyming end words
Denotation
The literal or dictionary definition of a word
Didactic
A type of poem with a purpose of teaching something
Dilemma
A choice between two undesirable situations
Dissonance
A relation or state of tension between various tones
Elegy
A mournful poem; a lament for the dead
Epic
Narrative poetry, usually told or written in an elevated style, that recounts the life of a hero
Epiphany
A sudden revelation of truth inspired by a seemingly trivial incident.
Epigram
An epigram is a short poem with a clever twist at the end or a concise and witty statement.
Epitaph
A summary statement of commemoration for a dead person
Euphemism
A nice way of saying something bad
