Mental Health
A person’s condition with regard to their physiological and emotional well-being.
Emotional Health
An individual feeling emotional security and relaxation regularly.
Depression
Feelings of severe despondency and dejection.
Anxiety
A feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
Resiliency
The ability to adapt effectively and recover from disappointment, a difficulty, or a crisis.
Emotions
The feeling that is produced in response to life experiences.
Endorphins
any group of hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system and having a number of physiological functions. The body’s “feel good” hormone.
Adrenaline
A hormone released into the bloodstream in response to physical or mental stress.
Stressor
Any agent that causes stress to an organism.
Stress
A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.
Distress
A negative stress that can make a person sick or can keep a person from reaching a goal.
Eustress
A positive stress that energizes a person and helps a person reach a goal.
Self-Talk
The act or practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently and mentally.
Fight or Flight Response
The instinctive physiological response to a threatening situation, which readies one either to resist forcibly or to run away.
Mental Illness
Disorders that affect your mood, thinking, or behavior.
Character
The inherent complex of attributes that determine a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions.
Enabler
Person who knowingly or unknowingly supports the harmful behavior of another person.
Phobia
An extreme fear.
Psychologist
A scientist who studies the mind and behavior of humans and animals.
Psyciatrist
The branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders.
Addiction
Dependence on a substance, habit, or behavior.
Stress Management Skills
Skills that help an individual handle stress in a healthful, effective way.
Perfectionism
Believing that you must be perfect to be effective.
Apathy
Lack of feeling, emotion, interest, or concern
