All deliberate speed
Brown V. Board of education, Chief Justice Earl Warren adopted Justice Felix Frankfurter’s suggestion to use a phrase associated with the revered Oliver Wendell Holmes, “with all deliberate speed.” Shortly after Warren retired from the Court he acknowledged that “all deliberate speed” was chosen as a benchmark because “there were so many blocks preventing an immediate solution of the thing in reality that the best we could look for would be a progression of action.”

In the definition of the American Dream by James in 1931, “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement” regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.

Delegates began by pledging themselves to freer trade: not yet to free trade, which might jolt many economies excessively, but to a series of steps in that direction. The commitment to freer trade eventually took the form of the general agreement on Tariffs and Trade, or GATT, which in rounds of negotiations over the following decades progressively reduced tariffs and other barriers to trade. this meeting also established the Bank of Reconstruction and development (world bank) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The federal government had just outlawed school segregation in Brown v. Board of Education, signaling to activist that it would not support Alabama’s segregation laws. The Supreme Court decision legitimized civil rights demands and emboldened activist to challenge state laws.
Color Line
The term color line was originally used as a reference to the racial segregation that existed in the United States after the abolition of slavery.
Contract with America
Gringrich nationalized the 1994 election by writing a playbook for republicans across the country to use. Stated in constructive and forthright fashion what the house republicans would do if voters gave them a majority.
Don’t Ask Don’t Tell
Homosexuals couldn’t be involved in the army. It was a law where they couldn’t ask someone if they were gay.

p. 21 A bomb (see little boy) As Tokyo continued to refuse to surrender, another American warplane dropped a second bomb – the fat man- on Nagasaki on August 9th. The destruction was comparable to that at Hiroshima.
FHA
Federal housing administration they build low income housing loans for construction of houses
GI Bill

Congress passed the GI bill, which would provide funding for the soldiers return to the ivy-covered walls. It provided funding for soldiers to go back to school. The GI bill also underwrote home mortgages for veterans after the war.
IMF
International Monetary Fund, established to stabilize exchange rates and currency flow.
