Plié
(Plee-ay) a bending of the knee or knees to develop a sense of balance and warm up joints and muscles
Rond de jambe à terre
(Rawn-duh-zhahnb-a-tehr) an exercise where one leg makes circular movements on the ground to loosen the hips
Cambre
(Kahn-bray) Arched. The body is bent at the waist, backwards, forwards, or sideways with the head following the body’s movements
Releve
(Ruhl-vay) a raising of the body on the points or demi-pointes. It is a smooth continuous rise in the cecchetti method

(Bat-mahn) a beating of the leg, extended or bent. There are two different types: grands and petits
Dégagé
(Day-ga-zhay) disengaged or disengaging step - the pointing of a foot in an open position with a fully arched instep
Sickling
A fault in which a dancer turns their foot in from the ankle, breaking the straight line of the leg
