the attriubution of human emotion to inanimate objects nature animals and people

stanza
a division of a poem consisting of a series of lines arranged together in a usually recurring pattern of meter and rhyme
couplet
a pair of two consecutive rhyming lines finish when the two lines form a senetence
euphony
the pleasing harmonious arrangment of sounds and language
cacaphony
a blend of unharmonius sounds used to emphasize disorder harshness or violence
meter
the basic rhytmic structure of a verse or lines inverses
caesura
a pause between lines of poetry indicated by punctuation
understatement
to draw attention to a situation by downplaying the intensity

a statement or concept exaggerated to the point of absurdity

using one word to modify/join two words
synthesia
a blending of different senses for dramatic effect
internal poem
a single line of poetry with multiple words rhyming or the rhyming words can occur across multiple lines
juxtaposition
a literary device contrasts elements side by side to highlight their differences
