Anti-semitism
A certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward the Jews
Prejudice
A preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience
Othering
The act of treating someone as though they are not part of a group and are different in some way
Stereotype
A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing
Einsatzgruppen
Units of the Nazi security forces composed of members of the SS, the Sicherheitspolizei, and the Ordnungspolizei that acted as a mobile killing unit in WW2
Nuremberg Laws
Legal regulations designed by Adolf Hitler that restricted and deprived Jews from their rights
Volksgemeinschaft
A German expression meaning “people’s/folk/national/racial community”
Universe of Obligation
A group of individuals that society recognises that needs and deserves to be treated morally and with respect and dignity
UN Convention of the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide
A convention that states that genocide is a crime. The convention says, “Genocide is a crime that can take place both in the time of war as well as in time of peace”.
