Terms Flashcards
What are Military Training Routes (MTRs)?
MTRs are routes established for low-altitude, high-speed military flight training, generally below 10,000 feet MSL at airspeeds in excess of 250 knots Indicated Air Speed.
How are MTRs depicted on charts?
MTRs are depicted in brown on IFR Enroute Low Altitude Charts and are not shown on inset charts or IFR Enroute High Altitude Charts.
What types of MTRs are depicted on IFR Enroute Low Altitude Charts?
All IFR Military Training Routes (IRs) and VFR Military Training Routes (VRs) are depicted, except those VRs entirely at or below 1,500 feet AGL.
How are MTRs identified?
MTRs are identified by designators (e.g., IR-107, VR-134) shown in brown on the route centerline.
What do the arrows on MTRs indicate?
Arrows indicate the direction of flight along the route.
How is the width of an MTR represented on a chart?
Route segments with a width of 5 NM or less are shown by a .02” line; segments greater than 5 NM are shown by a .035” line.
How are MTRs tabulated?
MTRs for particular chart pairs are alphabetically, then numerically tabulated, including MTR type, unique identification, and altitude range.
