Terms Flashcards
The system component that stores 90% liquid refrigerant
Receiver
A refrigeration system with all components sealed together
Sealed system
The evaporator pressure and the components in a refrigeration system experiencing pressure
Low side pressure
Suction pressure
The pressure of refrigerant in a lived liquid and Vapour condition at a given temperature
Saturation pressure
One or more compressors, a condenser and accessories assembled on one frame
Condensing unit
A compressor that increases Vapor pressure by changing cylinders
Positive displacement compressor
The system component that liquifies refrigerant Vapour by removing heat
Condenser
A refrigerant Vapour pump
Compressor
A heat transmitting liquid that does not change state during a cooling process such as brine
Secondary coolant
The refrigerant to air concentration people are exposed to over a normal workweek without ill affects
TLV-TWA
A sealed joint by melting metals parts above 800°F
Brazing
Secondary coolants composed of salt and water
Brine
Mixtures of two or more refrigerant used individually as refrigerant for other applications
Blend
A sealed joint made by melting and joint metal parts
Welding
The term applied to blend of different refrigerant with varying saturation conditions acting as a single refrigerant
Zeotropic
Sealed joints made by joining and melting parts under 800°F
Soldering
A heat absorbing fluid that changes from a liquid to a Vapour at cooling and freezing temperatures
Refrigerant
The condensing pressure and the components in a refrigeration system experiencing that pressure
High side
Discharge pressure
The system component that vapourizes liquid refrigerant by adding heat from media being cooled
Evaporator
The minimum refrigerant concentration capable of flammability when mixed with air
LFL
The maximum concentration of toxic Vapour within 30 minutes exposure with no symptoms or negative health effects
Immediate danger to life and health
