Personification
The representation of human qualities to an object
Simile
A figure of speech involving the comparison using like or as terms
Metaphor
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
Pun
A joke exploiting the different possible meanings of a word or fact
Prose
Written or spoken language in its original form without metrical structure
Verse
Writing arranged with metrical rhythm, typically having a rhyme.
Iambic Pentameter
A line of verse with five metrical feet, each consisting of one short syllable followed by one long syllable.
Rhyming couplets
Two lines of verse that rhyme and complete one thought.
Antithesis
A person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.
