Advantages: More information, creative problem solving, greater comprehension, enhanced satisfaction, self-understanding
Disadvantages: pressure to conform, individual domination, uneven work distributions (social loafing), more time
Small Group Communication
Interaction among a small group of people who share common purpose, who feel a sense of belonging to the group, and who exert influence on one another.
Symbolic Convergence Theory
Theory that a group develops a shared consciousness and identity through the sharing of fantasies or stories, which are often chained together and have a common theme
Functional Theory
Function of communication in a group - refers to the effect of a given behavior within a system
