Q

thin lines

A

“What You See Is What You Get” interface, thickness of some lines can be annoying when trying to model and adjust project. Use Thin Lines (TL) to make every line 1 pixel width on screen only.

17
Q

split face

A

for multiple materials on the same surface.

18
Q

location line

A

imaginary line to control walls. indicated by blue dots.

wall, core, finish face: Exterior or Interior, Core Face: Exterior or Interior.

19
Q

Family

A

external file loaded in a project. has a type and instance.

20
Q

type

A

created from a family, ie 36” x 80” glazed door. see also instance

21
Q

Instance

A

every occurance of the family type ie (type) 36” x 80” glazed door in a project.

22
Q

Building Pad

A

to create a hole in a toposurface for a building.

23
Q

Filter

A

used to produce visual modifications on a view based on specific parameters.

24
Q

hide (hide element)

A

remove an element from a view without removing from the model or other views.

25
Q

wireframe

A

visual style that makes every surface invisible. not used often because it may produce a mess.

26
Q

hidden lines

A

most commonly used visual style in Revit. black and white with opacity.

27
Q

silhouettes

A

used to make edge lines wider. located in Graphic Display Options

28
Q

Depth Cueing

A

create a depth effect in elevations.

29
Q

underlay

A

show another level information in halftone on a plan view. found in view properties.

range: base level 2nd floor
range: top level 3rd floor
underlay orientation look down

30
Q

view template

A

used to take setting from a view and apply them to other similar views.

31
Q

drafting views

A

used to create completely 2D views without link to the main model. a 2D safe space.

32
Q

detail level

A

coarse, medium and fine.

33
Q

fine detail level

A

show all layers from elements structure.

34
Q

coarse detail level

A

shows fewer layers than fine detail level from elements structure.

35
Q

entourage

A

characters, plants, cars and other elements around to embellish and add context to views.

36
Q

visibility graphics

A

VG used to control visibility of all elements in current view. uncheck to hide from view.

37
Q

worksets

A

user-created categories that are similar to layers in AutoCad, are used mostly for performance instead of visiblity.

38
Q

central vs local

A

central file is located on server or cloud. local are copies of the central.

39
Q

synchronize

A

place local file changes into the central file.

40
Q

workset

(Manage Tab,
Select Manage Links,
click on the worksets you don’t want to see.)

A

Sectors ( A for Architecture elements and Z for linked elements)
A Entrance
A West Wing
A East Wing

change name of Workset1 ( second workset automatically created at set up)
A Interior
A Exterior
A Site
Shared Level and Grids (first workset created at set up)
Z Structure
Z MEP

41
Q

worksharing

A

When enabled worksets are created and allows model to become a central model. (go to the “collaborate” tab and click on worksets) can be closed ( best for model performance) or set to not visible ( by default is best to control overall visibility).

42
Q

shared levels and grids

A

workset - Store Scope Boxes, Reference Planes, and Match Lines here. These should not be viewed when linking another Revit model.
