The horizontal position of text such as left, center, or right.
Alignment
Cursor.
Insertion Point
Where your fingers “live” on the keyboard.
Home Keys
Information that appears on the top of every page.
Header
Information that appears at the bottom of every page.
Footer
Automatic movement of text from the end of one line to the beginning of the next.
Word Wrap
Moves the cursor to a preset position.
Tab
Moving through a document from top to bottom and left to right.
Scrolling
Blank space around the edges of a document.
Margin
Keys used to move the intersection point up, down, left, and right.
Arrow Keys
The style and appearance of text.
Font
Used to adjust the blank space between lines of type. (usually single or double)
Line Spacing
A computerized method of writing, editing, saving, and printing text.
Word Processing
Another name for alphabetical data that was entered.
Text
Any letter, number, or symbol typed on the keyboard.
Character
Information entered into the computer.
Data
Letting the computer decide where to end each line. (typing text without pushing return at the end of each line)
Word Wrap
Anything produced on a word processing program.
Document
A highlighted mark (sometimes blinking) on the screen that indicates the users location.
Cursor
Keys used in place of the mouse to move the cursor to a new location.
Arrow Keys
Keys that carry out specific things. (EX: Shift key, Return key, Caps lock key, etc)
Special Function Keys
Used in conjunction with another key to carry out an operation.
Command Keys
The line at the top of the screen that gives you your different choices.
Menu Bar
The line near the top of the screen that gives the name of your file.
