Arraignment
To be called in front of court to answer questions
Affidavit
a written report which is signed by a person who promises that the information is true
Autopsy
an examination of a dead body to find out the cause of death
Bail
the temporary release of a prisoner in exchange for security given for the due appearance of the prisoner
Booking
an arrangement to have something held for your use at a later time
Misdemeanor
a crime that is not very serious
Closing statement
The lawyers last chance to get the jury to be in favor of them
Felony
A crime more serious then a misdemeanor
Cross examination
the examination of a witness who has already testified in order to check or discredit the witness’s testimony
Defendant
The lawyer defending the wrong doer
Direct examination
The examination of a witness in order to credit or discredit the information
Evidence
The materials used to prove a person innocent or guilty
Homocide
The killing of a human by another human

The act of going through another trial

To see if a person is worthy of a trial

To have a good idea that the person is innocent

A formal document that orders a named individual to appear before a duly authorized body at a fixed time to give testimony.
