What does Motif mean?
A recurrent device, formula, or situation that often serves as a signal for the appearance
What does Narrative Structure mean?
A textual organization based on a sequence of connected events, presented in chronological order.
What does Narrator mean?
The “character” who “tells” the story.
What does Occasional Poem mean?
A poem written about or for a specific occasion.
What does Ode mean?
A lyric poem that is somewhat serious in subject and treatment.

A perspective that can be seen from one character’s view.
Onomatopoeia
A word capturing or approximating the sound that it describes, it makes the sound that it describes.

A figure of speech that combines two apparently contradictory elements.

Explicit moral lesson through the use of memory.
Paradox
A statement that seems contradictory but may actually be true.
Parallel Structure
The use of similar forms in written for nouns, verbs, phrases, or thoughts.
Parody
A word that imitates another work for comic effect by exaggerating the style and changing the content of the original.
Pastoral
a work that describes the simple life country folk
Periodic sentence
A sentence that is not grammatically complete until the end.
