  • coronal plane movts relate to axis through digit 3

- i.e. finger abduction = moving digits away from digit 3 + reverse for adduction

A

Proximal transverse arch = more rigid, formed by distal row of carpal bones
Distal transverse arch = more mobile (esp at sides), through the MCP joints
Longitudinal arch = follows the 2nd and 3rd rays + provides longitudinal stability
