Terminology/Definitions Flashcards
What is PaO2
Partial pressure of oxygen- the amount of oxygen in the arterial blood
What is PaCO2
Partial pressure of carbon dioxide - the amount of CO2 in the arterial blood
What is pH
acid base balance in the blood
What is HCO3
Bicarbonate- measures the total amount of CO2 transported in the blood
What is SpO2
oxygen saturation- measures the amount of hemoglobin saturated with oxygen molecules
What do ABG’s assess?
how well oxygen is being distributed in the blood and how well co2 is being removed. helps determine the status of the pts lungs and kidney functions.
What is the normal value for PaO2
80-100mmHg
What is the normal value for PaCO2
