AAP
AFT Attendant Panel. Located near the AFT left FA station and contain colored lights that indicate calls from customers and crew.
ABA
Able Bodied Assistant. An individual customer selected to assist during an emergency for exit operation, raft launching if necessary.

ACARS
Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System. ACARS is a digital datalink system for the transmission of messages between the pilots and ground stations via radio or satellite.

Area Call Panel. Installed in the cabin ceiling and contains colored lights that indicate that calls from crew, LAVs, guests, or smoke detection. Lights are accompanied by chime or series of chimes.

AIP
Attendant indication Panel. Located near the FA stations and contain Green and Red LED indicator lights and a two line text display area. Used to provide a quick reference to FAs and identify from a distance the type of call.

An identification number painted on the outside of the A/C. Also referred to as the ship or tail number.
Altitude
The distance in feet above mean sea level
APU
Auxiliary Power Unit. A self contained engine inside the A/C which provides power and air conditioning while parked at the gate

Air Traffic Control. The agency responsible for the guidance of airplanes on the ground and in the air.

Charter Flight

CIDS
Cabin Intercommunication Data System. Computer system on airbus a/c used to control and display cabin functions for customers and Crew. These include cabin lighting, interphone, door status indication, emergency signals, directional signals (i.e. fasten seatbelt), and FAP indications.
