Allergy
Condition of unusual or exaggerated sensitivity to a substance that is harmless in similar amounts to the average person
Adverse drug effects
Effects other than the desired ones, side effects and toxicities
Analgestic
A drug that relieves pain
Anemia
A condition in which the body does not have enough healthy Red blood cells which provide oxygen to body tissues
Anesthetic
An agent used to abolish sensation may be local or general
Angina
A sudden intense pain in the chest, often accompanied by feelings of suffocation, caused by momentary lack of adequate blood supply to the heart muscle
Antacid
A drug that counteracts or neutralizes stomach acidity
Antibiotic
A substance produced by a living organism that is capable of killing or inhibiting the growth of another microorganism; used in the treatment of infectious diseases
Antihistamine
A drug that blocks the effects of histamine, which causes allergic reactions; used in the treatment of allergies and cold symptoms
Anti-inflammatory
A medication used to reduce inflammation
Arthritis
Inflammation of the joints
Auxiliary labels
Small labels containing additional information, Reminders, or warnings to the patient regarding drug use; used to supplement the main prescription label
Congestive heart failure
Failure or diminished ability of the heart to supply blood to the tissues and organs of the body
Constipation
A condition of the bowels in which the feces are dry and hardened and evacuation is difficult and infrequent
Decongestant
A drug that relieves congestion; opens blocked air passages in the nose and Bronchi
