Downstream
Activities/members that are closer to the customer.
Upstream
Activities that are positioned earlier in the supply chain.
Supplier
Is the one who supplies raw materials, semi-finished/finished goods to a downstream member in the supply chain.
Tier Supplier
Refers to the order of goods and services flow in a supply chain.
First-tier supplier supplies goods/services (G/S) directly to a firm.
Second-tier supplier supplies to first-tier supplier.
Thus, nth tier supplier supplies to (n-1)th tier supplier.
Manufacturers
Manufacture the products or deliver the services. The manufacturer can be the one who produces the final product or the raw material.
Hence, supplier is also a manufacture.
Distributors
They take inventory in bulk from manufacturers and delivery product lines to retailers/business.
Retailers
They stock inventories and sell in smaller quantities to customers.
Transporters
They move raw & finished materials to and from the players in the supply chain.
