About Me!
To share a little about myself, I’ve been a Project Manager for about 8 years, leading both technical and creative projects in fast-paced agency environments.
I specialize in managing Web, SEO, branding, and integrated marketing campaigns for a variety of industries, such as B2B and SaaS companies, non-profits, and colleges and universtties.
I believe strong communication and teamwork are the backbones to any successful project.
In my current role, I am a Web Project Manager. My daily responsibilities are to ensure everything runs smoothly, from managing budgets and timelines to keeping communication flowing between internal teams and clients. I do well with time management and I’m someone who stays calm when obstacles arise.
And having worked remotely for the last 4 years, I’ve developed a strong ability to stay organized and connected with the team.
Example of how you’ve managed scope creep
In one of my projects at my current company, a client requested additional features that weren’t a part of the original scope, risking delays and increasing costs. I addressed it by partnering with my Account Director to have a conversation with the client, explaining the impact on budget and timelines. We proposed two options:
- Extend the timeline and budget by adding a Change Order to the project
- Save the features for a later phase in the future (a “round 2”)
Challenges you’ve faced managing web projects and how you overcame them
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is handling unexpected delays from external contractors. In a recent project, our development contractor was behind on his work, which threatened to delay the client’s launch date. To overcome this, I coordinated with the contractor to prioritize his tasks, reallocated internal resources to help keep the project moving forward, and adjusted future project timelines to have additional buffer periods built in. This approach helps us launch on time while still maintaining the client’s trust.
Example of identifying risks and the mitigation steps I took.
One project comes to mind where I noticed early on when the client kept requesting last minute changes to deliverables, which threatened our ability to meet the final deadline. To mitigate this moving forward, I communicated how delayed feedback on one phase can cause additional delays to the remaining phases. This was helpful because it allowed the client to see the full picture of how delayed feedback can affect the overall timeline, and they started to adhere to those deadlines moving forward.
Name a time when you resolved conflicts
During a website redesign project, a conflict arose between the Design and Development team over having advanced animations on the site. The designers wanted this for better user engagement, while the developers were concerned about performance impacts. To resolve this, I organized a meeting between the teams and the Account Director to discuss both of their concerns. After the brainstorm we ultimately decided to simplify the animations a bit to ensure they were still visually appealing white not sacrificing site performance.
How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple projects?
I prioritize tasks based on deadlines and the overall project goals. I usually create a clear task list and categorize items by their urgency and importance, and ensure those critical tasks are getting done first.
How do you handle tight deadlines or pressure?
I stay organized by breaking work into manageable tasks and by establishing milestones within the project. By using each milestone as a mini-deadline to work towards, that helps keep the overall timeline on track.
How do you ensure a project stays within budget.
I start by doing a deep dive into the project scope to fully understand the deliverables. Throughout the project, I closely monitor expenses, track any changes, and communicate potential budget impacts early.
Tell me about a time where you managed a CMS build.
In my current role, I managed a CMS build for a client who was moving to WordPress. I started by gathering requirements and creating a project plan with clear deliverables and timelines for the team. This included coordinating with designers, developers, and content strategists to ensure all elements were aligned. Throughout the duration of the project I monitored progress closely and kept communication transparent between the client and internal teams.
