Natural Numbers
Positive whole numbers
Integers
Consist of natural numbers, their negatives, and zero
Rational Numbers
Ratios of integers (x/y), has repeating decimals
Irrational Numbers
Real numbers that cannot by expressed as a ratio of integers (sqrt, pi, etc), has nonrepeating decimals
Commutative Property
The order of numbers does not matter
Associative Property
The order of calculation does not matter
Distributive Property
You can multiply a sum by each of its terms and add the result
Additive Identity
0, because a+0=a

The number being divided by
Denominator
The number that divides the numerator
Set
A collection of objects
Element
An object within a set
Union
Contains all elements of multiple sets
Empty Set
A set that contains no elements
Intersection
Contains only elements multiple sets have in common
Interval
A set of real numbers
Open Interval
An interval that excludes endpoints
Closed Interval
An interval that includes endpoints
Absolute Value
The distance from a number to 0 on a real number line
Properties of Real Numbers
Commutative, Associative, and Distributive
Exponential Notation
a^n where a is the base and ^n is the exponent, a=a*a ^n times
