What does ‘semantics’ mean?
A
It’s a term most authors take for granted. I personally find it a confusing term. In this book at one point the sentence “So far in this chapter, you’ve seen that records are reference types that support value semantics.” What exactly does “value semantics” mean? I’m not sure.
My understanding is that semantics is the meaning something has given the context of everything going on around it.
So “value semantics” might mean that the records, although a reference type has the functionality of value types.
