Abbreviation for ‘every evening’
QPM
Abbreviation for ‘every morning’
QAM
The time it takes for a drug to get from the administration site to the active site.
(for a pill – the time from the mouth to the site of pain.)
Distribution
Converting a drug to a form the body can use.
(from pill form to a dissolved form)
Absorption
Abbreviation for an ‘hour of sleep’
HS
Study of harmful substances (poisons) and their effects on the body.
Toxicology
The drug is eliminated from the body.
(usually eliminated in the urine)
Excretion
The study of drugs that are obtained from natural plant and animal sources.
Pharmacognosy

Clinical pharmacology
The breakdown of a drug into a simpler form.
(usually metabolized in the liver)

The reason for using a drug.
