United Nations
is an international organization formed in 1945 to increase political and economic cooperation among member countries. The organization works on economic and social development programs, improving human rights and reducing global conflicts.
Declaration of human rights
is a declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948 at the Palais de Chaillot, Paris.
Violation
the action of violating someone or something.
Refugee
a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.
Holocaust
destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.
Concentration camp
a place where large numbers of people, especially political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities, sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass execution.
Secretary General
a title given to the principal administrator of some organizations, most notably the United Nations.
Security Council
is the primary instrument for establishing and maintaining international peace. Its main purpose is to prevent war by settling disputes between nations.
General Assembly
The principal deliberative body of the United Nations, in which each member nation is represented and has one vote. The supreme governing body of some religious denominations.
scapegoat
a person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.
persecuted
to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, especially because of religious or political beliefs, ethnic or racial origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
anti-semitic
person who discriminates against or is prejudiced or hostile toward Jews.
Israel
formed as a Jewish state May 1948.
Palestine
Also called Holy Land. Biblical name Canaan. an ancient country in SW Asia, on the E coast of the Mediterranean.
West Bank
an area in the Middle East, between the W bank of the Jordan River and the E frontier of Israel: occupied in 1967 and subsequently claimed by Israel; formerly held by Jordan.
