Term 4 Year 7 maths Flashcards
Area and perimeter
Whats the formula of a triangle area?
1/2xbxh
(a triangle is half an square)
So whats the area of the triangle if b=12cm, H=15cm and h=13cm?
78 cm2
(using the formula, 1/2x12x13 will equal 78 cm2)
Whats the formula to find the Base or height of a triangle?
Ax2÷(h or b)
(you want to find the square area before dividing)
So whats the height of the triangle if b=8mm , H= 16mm and A= 56 mm2?
14mm
(using the formula 56x2÷8 will equal 14mm)
Whats the formula of a parallelogram area?
bxh
(A parallelogram is a rectangle but with some of the are sides cut off)
So if the parallelogram has a base of 68cm and height of 45cm, whats the area?
3060 cm2
(68 x 45 = 3060 cm2)
Whats the formula to find the base or height of a parallelogram?
A÷b or h
(is the opposite of multiply ( X ))
So if the parallelogram has an area of 27 km2 and height of 3km?
9 km
(Using the formula 27÷3 will equal to 9 km)
Whats the formula to find the circumference of a circle?
π x d
(or π x r x 2) (Pi is the ratio of a circle circumference)
If the diameter is 12cm, whats the circumference of the circle?
37.7cm
( π x 12 = 37.7 remember to round it to the nearest hundredth.)
If the radius is 19 mm, whats the circumference of the circle?
119.38 mm
(π x 19 x 2 = 119.38 remember to round it to the nearest hundredth)
Whats the formula to find the radius or diameter of a circle?
π ÷ c
(or π ÷ c ÷ 2) ( Its the reverse of the way to find the formula of a circumference)
If the circumference is 21.99 m, whats the diameter of the circle?
7 m
(π ÷ 21.99 = 7 m) (Its the reverse method of finding the circumference by the diameter)
If the circumference is 43.98 mm, then whats the radius of the circle?
7 mm
(π ÷ 43.89 ÷ 2 = 7 mm) (Its the reverse method of finding the circumference by the radius)
Whats the formula to solve the volume of a rectangular prism?
(b x h) x w
(Same thing with the 2d rectangle, but times width)
If b = 13m, h = 26m and w = 18m, whats the volume of the rectangular prism?
6084m 3
(13 x 26 x 18 = 6084m 3) (remember to put in you volume units) (Area = 2) (Volume = 3)
Whats the formula to solve the height, base or width of a rectangular prism?
V ÷ (b or h or w) ÷ (b or h or w)
(Its the reverse method of finding the volume, but to find the base, height or width)
If v = 1680 cm3, b = 15cm, and w = 7cm, whats the height of the rectangular prism?
16cm
(1680 ÷ 15 ÷ 7 = 16cm)
Whats the formula to find the volume of a triangular prism?
(1/2 x b x h) x w
(Same thing with the 2d triangle, but times width)
If b = 23m, h = 35m, and w = 47m, whats the volume of the triangular prism?
18917.5 m3
(1/2 x 23 x 35 x 47 = 18917.5 m3) or (23 x 35 x 47/ 2 = 18917.5 m3)
Whats the formula to find the base, height or width of a triangular prism?
v x 2 ÷ (b, h or w) ÷ (b, h or w)
(Its the reverse method of finding the volume of a triangular prism)
If v = 315 km3, b = 9 km and h = 14 km, whats the width of the triangular prism?
5 km
(315 x 2 ÷ 9 ÷ 14 = 5 km)
