To learn terms to use in Term 4 exam
What do crossed arms show?
The person is angry or wants to be left alone or wants to appear in control.
What does a pointed finger show?
A pointed finger shows that person wants other people to pay attention and listen or look where the finger is pointing. If the pointed finger is being moved up and down it is letting the other person know that they are being corrected for their behaviour.
What does a flat hand facing reaching out to touch something or someone show?
The person wants to make contact with the subject or object but not harm them.
What do wide open staring eyes mean?
The person is showing surprise or shock.
What does index or pointing finger held up close against the lips mean?
The person wants people around them to be quiet right away for an urgent or important reason.
What do we call the part of a graphic novel page that has a border around it?
A frame.
What words can we use to tell our reader where the frame is located on the page ?
upper, lower, left, right, centre We can also share the page number
What is salience?
The parts of an image that stand out and grab a reader’s attention.
What is foreground?
The section of an image closest to the viewer or reader. , appearing in front of other parts of the image.
What is background?
The section of an image further-est away from the viewer, appearing behind other elements of the image.
What is gaze?
Gaze is the direction/ where the subject of the image is looking.
What is direct gaze?
When the subject of the image is looking straight out at the reader.
What is an offer?
When the subject of the image is looking away from the reader or viewer, their gaze is not directly engaged with the reader or viewer of the image.
What is a vector?
A vector is a visible or invisible line that leads the reader’s eye in a particular direction on the page.
What is a reading path?
In Australia we read left to right , top to bottom. Our eyes naturally travel this path and read and interpret the image in this order.
