What is equity?
The concept relates to fairness and justice in the way all people are treated. Equity acknowledges that all people are different and taking these individual differences into account when allocating resources and providing opportunities for them.
What is access?
The measure of the opportunity a person is given.

Discourage or prevent a person from participating in sport or physical activity (i.e.theydecrease access)
What are enablers?
Encourage or support a person to participate in sport or physical activity.

What is a genetic disposition?
The range of biological qualities and characteristics that a person possesses (that make them more or less suited to a particular activity)

Motivation is self-determined
What is self-confidence?
An athlete’s conviction that they have the skills, abilities and talent to succeed
What is self-belief?
An athlete’s trust in their ability to succeed, regardless of past performances and experiences.
What is self-efficacy
An athlete’s belief is that they have the ability to perform a task.
What is ‘openness’?
The tendency of a person to be open to new experiences and try new things
What is conscientiousness?
The tendency of a person to work hard and be dependable
What is extraversion?
the tendency of a person to be outgoing and socially confident
What is agreeableness?
The tendency of a person to cooperate and get along with others
What is neuroticism?
The tendency of a person to experience unpleasant feelings
What is personal ability?
A term used to describe the qualities and skills a person uses to complete a task or achieve a goal.
What is an agent of socialisation?
The significant individuals, groups, or institutions that influence our sense of self and the behaviors, norms, and values that help us function in society.
What are personal factors?
include things like age, race, gender, self-esteem, personality traits and motivation.
What are social factors?
these include things like the influence of friends, family members or the wider community
what are cultural factors?
these include things like the influence of mass media, advertising, religious and cultural traditions, and government policies and programs
What are environmental factors?
these include things like access to appropriate spaces (e.g. level grassed areas) and facilities (e.g. tennis courts) needed to participate in particular sports.

what is demographic change?
general term used to describe changes in the size, age, composition and structure of a population.
What is generational change?
term used to describe the changing tastes, influences and preferences that take place within a population over time.
What is cultural change?
term used to describe the changing levels of cultural diversity that take place within a population over time.
What is agenda setting theory?
Proposes that the power of the media comes from its ability to control and decide which issues it will cover and when.
What is a megatrend?
trends that have an effect on a global scale. Some of the current megatrends are identical with global threats.
