Supplement to other gospels, includes lots of new info
Only author to include story of women taken in adultery, added later and we assume John wrote it
Only record of turning water into wine
spends more time writing about the savior in personal conversations, private events, wrote to Christians
some scholars believe that the gospels of John was written in 90 AD-110 AD ish, which they find odd because he shouldn’t be alive, but we know otherwise

More likely to be more than 10,000 people there (5,000 men)
Take the lad’s 5 loaves and 2 small fishes, apostles ask “what are they among so many?” that’s kinda like us or our missionaries comapred to huge population
Feed them right after learning of John the Baptists death (Christ probably wanted to be alone)

Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man

Luke 16
Lazarus is a beggar and the rich man never gives him a crumb. They both die and Lazarus is in Abraham’s bosom, that means they were dining together, Lazarus was dining with Abraham in the spirit world
The rich man asks for a drop of water on his tongue, and Lazarus gives it to him and sends him back to redeem his family
We also see a future miracle foreshadowed with Lazarus raising form the dead
Lazarus is also the only man ever named in the parables

The “certain man” in the story travels from Jerusalem to Jericho
Only a Samaritan helps him (half Jew - many were half jew and half gentile. Christ is half mortal, half divine)
Heals man with oil and wine, symbolic of sacrament
Martin Luther viewed this parable as a symbol of the plan of Salvation and redemption

Know when the father sees his son, he sees him from afar so he was running to get to him , exposing ankles which is not acceptable in that time
Parable also known as the parable of the Good Father, his son ate with swine, eating out of a dumpster and the father is happy to see him
