What did the Abrahamic covenant do?
God promised Abraham the promised land, a son, many blessings and nearly told him to kill his son out of loyalty. Abraham travelled from his home city to get to the promised land.
What type of covenant was the Mosaic covenant?
A bilateral one.
Which covenant was given the ten commandments?
The Mosaic Covenant.
What did the Mosaic covenant do?
Led the Israelites out of Egypt to Mount Sinai.
Did the Mosaic Covenant get broken?
Yes.
What is the Davidic Covenant?
A covenant in which God promises David that one of his descendants would by the savior, Jesus. He also promised that Jesus would establish a kingdom. It was unilateral as well.
What was Noah’s Covenant?
A covenant in which God flooded the Earth after allowing Noah to build an “ark” where his family and animals stayed during the flood. Noah would then continue the human race after the population was wiped out. However, at the end of this God promised Noah that he would never kill all human life again and as a sign of this, he gave the world a rainbow.
What was the New Covenant?
A covenant Jesus created between himself and God which represented the tying end to all the previous covenants.
What’s a Catholic Prophet?
A Catholic Prophet is a Catholic who sends a message which reflects values which are still to be made. They many times predicted the future, and told people what the Lord was like.
What is a Covenant?
A covenant is a agreement or promise between man and god, these come in all shapes in sizes and in many forms.
What are the three major prophets?
Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
What is a secular covenant?
A non spiritual or religious agreement between two parties and is generally a political covenant
Religious covenant
Covenant that is a formal alliance formed by god with humanity or a specific community
Unilateral covenant
a promise with no demand where the other parties have no say in what others decide
Bilateral covenant
a covenant that consists of 2 elements: promise and demand, where both parties contribute the the ultimately agreed position
Unilateral covenants
A promise is made but there is no demand
What does Introduction of the speaker mean?
In a political treaty or covenant, the King or Queen or President is introduced by name
What does historical background mean?
The King or Queen reminds the people of what he/she has done for the people on their behalf
What does Requirements or obligation mean?
The King or Queen clearly states the obligations to which the other party must adhere.
What does rewards and punishments mean?
The rewards for following the requirements of the covenant are stated, as are the punishments for failing to adhere to the details of the covenant.
What does List of witnesses mean?
People are called as witnesses to seal the covenant or the agreement. This is a similar format in a marriage ceremony.
What does blessings and curses mean?
Blessings and curses are invoked (claimed) to ensure the best possible outcomes.
