Tendon reflexes of the upper limb
A
Biceps reflex:
Relaxed limb passively pronated & partially extended at elbow
Examiners thumb placed on biceps tendon at cubital fossa
reflex hammer tapped on examiners thumb bed
Normal response= contraction of the biceps (brief flexion of elbow) =integrity of musculocutaneous nerve (C5,C6)
(C5,C6- pick up sticks)

Tendon reflexes of the lower limb
A
Knee jerk:
Sat down with leg dangling off side and not touching floor. Tap patellar tendon briskly (inferior to patella) with knee flexed -> knee should extend (L3, L4 -kick the door)
