Define tendinopathy
Disease of the tendon (pathological or degenerative)
Define tendonitis
Inflammation (over used term as many not inflammatory)
Define tendonosis
Degeneration of collagen in the tendon
Define tenosynovitis
Inflammation within the tendon sheath
Define enthesopathy
Inflammation of the origin or insertion where the tendon joins to bone
What may cause a biceps tendinopathy
Overuse, instability, impingement or trauma
Common in people who do lots of overhead labour or sports people whose events involve throwing
It can be proximal or distal tendinopathy
Presentation of a biceps tendinopathy
Pain anterior shoulder radiating to elbow
Aggravated by shoulder flexion, forearm pronation and elbow flexion
Snapping with shoulder movements if subluxation
Clinical signs: biceps tendon popping out and extensive bruising
