Tender Points Flashcards
inguinal ligamant
superior surface of pubic tubercle
inguinal ligament treatment
supine flex both legs 90 degrees placing on docs thighs move leg on tender side under opposite leg internally rotate femur
iliacus/psoas
2” inf and 2med from ASIS
iliacus/psoas treatment
supine stand on tender side flex patients legs, externally rotate legs and place them on ur thigh flex sidebend toward the TP
low ilium/SI
lateral ramus of pubic bone ant surface
low ilium/SI treatment
supine flex tender side only 90 degress add abduction if needed
lateral trochanter
lateral surface of femur 0-15cm distal from greater trochanter in IT band
lateral trochanter treatment
prone doc seated supporting pts leg on his thigh slightly flex the hip add abduction and internal rotation
posterior lateral trochanter
superior lateral surface of posterior greater trochanter
posterior lateral trochanter treatment
prone doc standing w/knee on table under pts thigh, add in a moderate extension, some abduction and a lot of external rotaiton
posterior medial trochanter
3-5mm inf to greater tochanter btwn post and medial surface the shaft of femur and post lateral surface of ischial tuberosity
posterior medial trochanter treatment
prone grasp leg on tender side and place knee under the thigh slightly extend the leg moderately externally rotate adduct leg
ant lat trochanter
5-7cm lat and inf to ASIS but ant and sup to greater trochanter
ant lat trochanter treatment
supine flex hip 70-90 degrees add abduction and external rotate
high ilium sacroiliac (HISI)
lat to PSIS
HISI treatment
prone or supine doctor standing on affected side extend leg and slight abductioN
mid pole sacroiliac (ilium in flare superior/MPSI)
3-4 cm inf to PSIS in divot in the muscle just lateral to the sacrum,
MPSI treatment
prone doc standing on affected side slightly flex hip and knee add abduction some external rotation of hip
piriformis
in belly of piriformis 8-9cm med and sup to greater trochanter
piriformis treatment
prone doc is seated on side of TP suspend pts leg off table and rest the leg on ur thigh flex the hip to 135 abduct slightly and internally or externally rotate the knee
high ilium out flare (HIFO)
seen in coccydynia at sacrococcygeal joint or on coccyx
HIFO Tx
prone doc is standing on affected side abduct leg
sacral tender point treatments
prone apply gentle pressure to opposite part of sacrum of where TP located
