Temperatures Flashcards
Reconstruction - Base metal temp where welding is not allowed
< 0 °F
Reconstruction - Base metal temp when hand-warm pre-heat is required
0 - 32 °F
Linings - Min temp when installing tank bottom linings
5 °F above dew point
Corrosion - The corrosion rate of steel tank bottoms may double with this rise in temp.
18 °F
UT Calibration - Cal block must be w/in what temp of the part to be examined
25 °F
Standard temp range for Vac Box & PT
40 - 125 °F
Impact Test - Design metal temp that requires weld procedure used for vert welds to be impact tested.
< 50 °F
Brittle - Tank metal temp where brittle fracture is NOT a concern
> 60 °F
Bottom Lap Patches - Metal temp where lap-patches are NOT allowed in crit zone on S.S. tank
> 100 °F
Intervals - If tank product solidify below this temp, the code max interval rules do not apply
< 110 °F
Corrosion - Temp when high strength caustic causes serious corrosion in CS and 300 SS
> 150 °F
Preheat - Required pre-heat temp for shell welds over 1.5” thick during reconstruction
200 °F
Bottom Lap Patches - Metal temp where lap-patches are NOT allowed in the crit zone on CS tanks
> 200 °F
Temp range for API 650 App M
200-500 °F
Corrosion - Most aggressive temp range for CUI. Range for API 575 and API 571
120-200 °F / 212-350 °F
