Tema 6 Flashcards
What’s electricity?
It’s a form of energy, (used in developed societies) to be transformed into other forms of energy, (like light, and heat.)
What’s an electrical circuit?
A set of elements connected to one another, so that an electrical current can pass through them.
What components are there (in an electrical circuit)?
- Power Source
- Load
- Conductors (Wire)
- Control Devices
- Protective Devices
What is a power source?
Where the electrical current originates from.
What’s a load?
Transforms electricity into other forms of energy.
What’s a conductor (wire)?
Element used to circulate electricity from one place to another.
What’re control devices?
Allows to turn on/off circuit.
What’re are protective devices?
Elements which prevent circuit components from being damaged.
How do you represent a circuit?
With a diagram, which each element is represented with a symbol.
What type of circuits are there?
- Series
- Parallel
- Combined
What’s a series circuit?
Loads are connected one after another.
Also:
- Same electrical current
- Voltage divided equally
What’s a parallel circuit?
When loads are not connected one after another.
- Load same voltage as battery
- Total Electrical Current = Sum of Currents of loads
What’s a combined circuit?
A circuit that uses both series connections and parallel connections.
What is electricity normally transformed into?
- Light
- Heat
- Magnetism
