How would you check the power steering is working?
Switch the ignition on and rock the steering left and right. It should move freely.
How would you check that the foot break is working?
Should not feel spongy or slack and should not pull to one side.
How would you check the headlights/sidelights are working?
Open the door and switch the lights on fully. Walk around the car pointing at the lights then switch off the lights and shut the door.
How would you check the indicators are working?
Put the hazards on then walk around the car pointing at all of the indicators
How would you check the reverse/break lights are working?
Either check in a reflective building or ask someone you trust
How would you check that you have the correct tyre pressure?
Check the vehicle handbook or use a pressure gauge when cold
How would you check you have safe and legal tyres?
The minimum tread depth should be at least 1.6mm all the way round and 3/4 in width. No cuts or bulges
How would you check the anti lock breaking system is working?
The warning light goes off when the car is on. If not there is an issue.
