can you tell me how you would check that the brakes are working before starting a journey?
- brakes should not feel spongy or slack when you press on them when car is started
- brakes should be tested by pushing down on them as your starting and setting off
- vehicle should not pull to one side
can you tell me where you would find the information for the recommended tyre pressure for this car?
and how tyre pressures should be checked?
find recommended pressure for wheels in manufacturers guide
sometimes there is sticker on inside of passenger door frame / on inside on fuel cap
to check pressure —> use reliable pressure gauge + check and adjust pressure when wheels are cold
also make sure to check spare tyre and replace valve caps
tell me how you would adjust your head restraint so that it gives you the best protection in the event of a crash?
needs to be adjusted so thickest and most rigid part of head restraint is in line with top of you ear and your eyes
then can be adjusted forwards and back for comfortability (far forward and as close to back of ur head)

turn on ignition
turn on lights and then could walk around car / get someone else to walk around to make sure they are working

have to have a minimum of 1.6mm tread depth across the middle 3/4 of the breadth of the tyre
has to continue across the entire circumference of tyre

if steering suddenly becomes heavy the system may not be working properly
you can tell at beginning of journey by gently pulling on wheel as you start the engine
if there is a slight give, then it means that it should work properly
also as you set away, if you turn the wheel and it moves easily —> means power assistance (steering) is working
if it wasn’t working, the wheel would be heavy

turn on ignition
turn on dial onto dipped headlights and then pull the dial out
a light will come on the dashboard that will indicate fog lights are on
only use them if visibility was reduced to 100m or less

first release bonnet latch inside car
open it using the catch under bonnet and secure it
pull out the oil dip stick and clean it —> then replace it
pull it out again and make sure the oil line is between minimum and maximum

open it using catch under bonnet and secure it
check coolant was between max and minimum line
