Q

Tell me how you’d check the power-assisted steering is working before starting a journey.

A

If the steering becomes heavy the system may not be working properly. Before starting a journey:

  • gentle pressure (turn slightly) the wheel, while engine started, should cause slight movement as systems operate.
  • Turn wheel just after moving off should give an immediate indication
  • Wheel should be easier to turn when start engine
