Open the bonnet and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.
Identify dipstick/ oil level indicator, state yo would remove the dipstick, wipe it with a cloth, replace and then remove again to check oil level against the minimum and maximum markers.

Turn on the ignition, switch dipped headlights on and then pull switch so rear fog lights come on. Fog lights must be used when visibility is reduced to 100m or less

Manufactures guide/ inside the door. A reliable tyre pressure gauge should be used to check and adjust the pressure when the tyres are cold, this should also include the spare tyre. Don’t forget to refit valve caps.
Tell me how you would check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe for use on the road
1.6mm tread depth across the central three-quarters of the breadth of the tyre and around the entire circumference of the tyre. A visual inspection should ensure no cuts or bulges.
Tell me how you would check that the brakes are working before starting a journey.
Move off then press the brakes, they should feel firm and not spongy. The car should not pull to one side.
Tell me how you would check that the headlights and tail lights are working. No need to exit the vehicle
Switch ignition on, Turn on the lights and walk around the vehicle. (You do not need to physically do this as it is a ‘tell me’ question)

The rigid part should be as high as the eye or top of the ears and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable. (Note: some head restraints might not be adjustable).

A warning light will illuminate. You should take your vehicle to be checked by a reliable mechanic.

Press the hazard warning light and walk around the vehicle to check all 6 bulbs are working

Engine must be started. Gentle pressure should be applied and a slight but noticeable movement should occur. Alternatively, turn the steering just after moving off and it should feel light, not heavy.
Tell me how you would check that the break lights are working.
Press the foot brake and make use of reflections or ask someone to help.
Tell me how you would switch your headlights from dipped to main beam and explain how you would know the main beam was on.
Turn on ignition, switch on dipped headlights. Push indicator control away from you until it clicks. The high beam light will show.
