Turn on ignition and walk around the car

Operate the switch possibly the ignition and walk around the vehicle

Against a wall, reflections in windows, ask someone to check for you
Check power assisted steering
If steering is heavy:
- steering wheel after moving off will indicate any issues.
- gentle pressure on the steering wheel while stationary and the engine on will reveal issues.
