brakes shouldn’t feel spongy or slack
should be tested as you set off and the vehicle should’nt pull to one side

use a reliable pressure gauge, check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold
remember to refit the valve caps and not forget spare tyre

however some restraints might not be adjustable

gentle pressure on steering wheel maintained once engine has started should result in a noticeable movement as systems begin to operate.

turning the steering wheel just after moving off will give an immediate indication that the power assistance is functioning

operate the switch and check the warning light is on.
when there is fog and struggling to see the road ahead
tell me how you would switch your headlight from dipped to main beam and explain how you would know main beam is on
operate the switch and check with main beam warning light
open the bonnet and tell me how you’d check the engine has sufficient oil
identify oil level indicator
check oil level against the minimum and maximum markers
open the bonnet and tell me how you’d check that the engine has sufficient engine coolant
identify high and low level markings on a header tank where fitted or radiator filler cap and describe how to top it up to the correct level
open the bonnet and tell me how you’d check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid
identify resovoir check level against high and low markings
