A gadget that changes sound into electricity, and then back into sound waves

When the handset is holding the switch down, the phone’s circuit is open,and no electricity flows through it. When you lift the handset it releases a spring below the switch, allowing the circuit to the wall jack open

Is the connection where the phone plugs in, connected to a wire to a telephone box near your home

Is the sound of the electric signal that the local exchange sends out when it is ready to handle your call
Dial tone
Is the combination of unique signals, tells where to route your call

A mouthpiece that turns your voice into electric signals
Microphone
The earpiece turn those signals back into sound waves
Speaker
Blocks the sound of your voice
Duplex cord
A system of wires to connect calls
Land lines
Usually about 26 square kilometers each
Hexagon shaped cells
Transmits and receives radio waves
Base station
Receives the voice of whoever you are talking to
