Q

Explain GPS + motion tracking software

A

Can be used in training + comp.

Used to track speed, distance + G forces.

Can also measure HR, pace, recovery time + acceleration.

A coach will be able to tell if a player is fatigued + therefore ⬇️ risk of injury.

8
Q

Reasons as to why all athletes SHOULD use the same equipment

A

To create a level playing field, esp. if reasons for lack of technology are socioeconomic.

9
Q

Reasons as to why all athletes SHOULDN’T use the same equipment

A

The same piece of equipment may not benefit every athlete in the same way so doesn’t quite level the playing field.

Diff. teams use diff. methods of training + equipments so if everyone went to the same then results + standards would be very similar.

Not practical + expensive to give everyone the same technology.

Q

What technology is there for officials in cricket

A

Decision Review System (DRS) = team is able to ask for review of decision - usually 2 per innings.

Snickometer = graphically analyses sound + video by showing whether a fine noise or ‘snick’ occurs as the ball passes the bat.

Hot spot = used w/ snickometer to verify if/where the ball has made contact

Q

Social media

A

Useful for public relations + marketing

⬆️ player profile

17
Q

What does performance analysis aim to do

A

Capture, analyse + evaluate key components relating to performance + provide concise fb to inform future practise

18
Q

What are the different aspects of performance analysis

A

technical analysis

tactical analysis

behavioural analysis

physical analysis

19
Q

Define technical analysis

A

Efficiency of movement + aesthetics

20
Q

Define tactical analysis

A

Vision, decision-making + strategies

21
Q

Define behavioural analysis

A

Observing + assessing social interactions + why performers behave a certain way

22
Q

Define physical analysis

A

Collection of data to inform training + competition

23
Q

What is the purpose of performance analysis

A

Assess performance + potential

Design training programmes

Set goals + judge athlete’s progress

Talent ID

ID of strengths + weaknesses

Assess recovery after injury

Predict opposition tactics

24
Q

What are the methods of analysing performance

A

Biomechanical

Notational

Fitness + Skill analysis

Behavioural analysis

Video analysis

25
Q

Define biomechanical analysis

A

Analysing technical execution of skill.

movement analysis = planes, axes, angles, distances, time, forces….

26
Q

Define notational analysis

A

Using symbols + data to record info.

Stats, patterns of play, errors + achievement

Computerised products i.e OPTA

27
Q

Define fitness + skills analysis

A

Used outside of comp. to gain info on perf.

i.e physical conditioning, technical efficiency

28
Q

Define video analysis

A

Provides objective info + can enhance performance analysis.

Can be used in conjunction w/ software such as Dartfish.

29
Q

Give examples of performance analysis technology

A

Fitness trackers i.e Fitbit

GPS i.e Garmin

Social media platforms i.e Strava

30
Q

What are some limitations to performance analysis

A

For real time analysis its diff. to remember key events.

Research suggests coaches only recall 30-50% of key performance they witness.

Coaches may form biased views so give incorrect guidance

Aspects i.e flair, vision, spatial awareness… are diff. to quantify using performance analysis

31
Q

Using specific examples explain different ways in which coaches may use GPS tracking systems to analyse the performance of players

A

To monitor performance stats - physical, technical + tactical i.e distance, intensity + time

To highlight social loafing i.e pitch coverage

Identify potential substitutions / establish fatigue levels of players

To establish diff. activity profiles by position
