Connotation

External rhyme

The pattern of external rhyme in a poem 
Couplet
Two consecutive rhymed lines
Quatrain
 A four lined portion of a poem, usually with a specific rhyme scheme
Meter
The precise measurement of a rhythm in a poem 
Caesura
A pause, break, or pivot within a line
Alliteration
The repetition of the same consonant sounds at the beginning of an adjacent or closely connected words
Ex: sweet sparrows, sang at sunrise
Consonance
The repetition of consonant sounds in close proximity
Ex: the tall starlet shut the top window 
Assonance
The repetition of vowel sounds in close proximity, sometimes approximating rhyme
Ex: the mad hatter sat on the flat pad 
Euphony
The use of pleasing, harmonious sounds Ex: shhh, to a wailing baby or mmm after eating something delicious
Cacophony
The use of harsh, discordant sounds
Ex: “k” or “g”
Allusion
Any historical or a literary reference outside of the poem
