Pun
A humorous play on words of the same sound but displaying two or more different meanings
Irony
When the opposite of what is expected to happen occurs
Sarcasm
An extreme form of irony in which the speaker is being exaggeratedly biting or aggressive to the person to whom he is speaking
Innuendo
When you say something in a manner hitch hints or alludes to your true meaning but does not say it overtly
Euphemism
A polite way of saying something unpleasant
Satire
A witty, intelligent use off humour that involves mockery. It is didactic in seeking change or by teaching a moral lesson
Parody
A form of satire that relies on a base model to operate. The contemporary model created can be used to mock the base model or to mock someone/something else entirely
Hyperbole
A deliberate over-exaggeration to emphasise an extreme emotion, action or quality
