allegory
a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
anthropomorphism
the showing or treating of animals, gods, and objects as if they are human in appearance, character, or behaviour.
Fairy tale
a story for children with fantastical elements
Dystopia
an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice,
typically one that is totalitarian.
Irony
a situation in which something which was intended to have a particular result has
the opposite or a very different result
Maxim
a short, memorable statement expressing a general truth or rule of conduct.
Moral
A principle or belief concerning right and wrong behaviour.
Objective
based on real facts and not influenced by personal beliefs or feelings
Omniscient narrator
third-person narrator who knows all the thoughts, actions, and
feelings of all characters.
Propaganda
ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread
in order to help a cause, a political leader or a government
Satire
a technique used to expose and criticise foolishness and corruption of an individual
or a society, by using humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule.
Dictator
A ruler who has total power over everything and everyone – typically by force.
Communism
A system of social organisation in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their needs/abilities.
Comrade
A fellow member of an organisation – typically linked to the armed forces
