Technical Flashcards
What’s the difference between an observation and an insight?
Observations are just raw data (i.e. things you saw and heard) — what you recorded without judgment. Insights, however, are a deeper interpretation and understanding of what you are seeing and hearing.
What is an insight?
An insight is the identification of cause and effect relations among elements of a data set that leads to the formation of an action plan which results in an improvement as measured by a set of KPIs.
What is a KPI?
KPI stands for key performance indicator. It is a quantifiable measure of performance over time for a specific objective.
Name 4 characteristics of insights.
Stable: i.e. if I use two different samples from the same data set to create a predictive model, then the resulting models have to provide the identical result under the same new data input.
Reproducible: regardless of how many times a feed a particular data set through an insight-generation system, the same insight will be produced.
Robust: in big data environments a certain amount of noise in the input data will not diminish the quality of the insight.
Enduring: the insight is valid for an amount of time that is related to the underlying data’s “half life.”

Hims/Roman – They position these medical conditions as not something to be swept under the rug, but rather as something to talk about freely.
And they do it by using casual, friendly language. Very un-pharma like, even going so far as to mock traditional pharma ads
There are two mobile restroom stalls at a construction site where I work.
There are also three situations that have an equal chance of occurrence:
a. none of them is occupied
b. only one of them is occupied
c. both are occupied
- If I were to pick one at random, what is the probability that it is occupied?
- If it turns out that that first one I go to is occupied and I decide to try the other one, what is the probability that the second one is also occupied?
- There are also three situations that have an equal chance of occurrence - meaning each have probability 1/3 to occur.
1/3 - the probability that I chose the option where they are both occupied.
1/3 * 1/2 - the probability that if one occupied and the other isn’t , I chose the one that is occupied - .25
what is logistic regression?
Logistic regression is a predictive analysis. To explain the relationship between the one dependent variable with another independent variable
Imagine a cube 1x1x1, then imagine that you form a cube of 10x10x10 with all these little cubes of 1x1x1. How many cubes do you have to remove to get rid of the surface of cubes.

Measures and Dimension in Tableau ?
Dimensions contain qualitative values (such as names, dates, or geographical data). You can use dimensions to categorize, segment, and reveal the details in your data. Dimensions affect the level of detail in the view.
Measures contain numeric, quantitative values that you can measure. Measures can be aggregated. When you drag a measure into the view, Tableau applies an aggregation to that measure (by default)
