Techical Flashcards
3 mains parts of a camera
•ISO
•Aperture
•Shitter speed
The aperture controls?
Controls the how much lights passes into camera and onto image sensor
Shutter speed controls
Controls length of time passing into camera and onto image sensor
ISO controls
Controls how sensitive a digital camera light sensor is
Rules of aperture
The lower the F number
The bigger the eye/more light
Rules of aperture
The higher the F number
The smaller the eyes/less light
What is a subfactor of depth of field
•Shallow depth of field= one object focused
Greater depth of field= all of them
Does a small depth of field require you to be fat or close to the camera
Far, as it wants everything in and the eye will be small
Rules of shutter speed
Fast = 600
Slow= 1/60
Very slow= 5 seconds
When are very slow shutter speeds used
In situations with low light to obtain correct exposure
Why do we change shutter speeds
To suit your subject matter and create your desired affect
What do you need to consider to your subject matter
Do you want to show movement or speed
Is the subject matter moving
Do you want to freeze movement or action
Effects shutter speed
Blurred image
Motion slowed down
Frozen subjects
Stop motion
Rules of ISO
Low ISO
100
200
400
Light censor becomes less sensible
High ISO
800
600
3200
Light censor becomes sensitive
Less ISO will result in
Less grain
What is bracketing?
It’s when you take several photos with a range of exposures
What does bracketing ensure?
This is ensure one photo has exposed
What are the pros of using manual?
It’s easier for beginners
Photographers has complete control of focus
Photographer can easily select areas to be focused and shallow depth field
Photographer doesn’t rely upon the auto focus system which can be confusing
Cons of manual focus
It can be tricky for beginners
You can easily miss a shot
Auto focus pros
Easy
Good shots as it’s quick
Auto focus often give satisfactory results
Auto focus cons
Creativity and controller limited
It can be confusing the system in situations
White balance
Adjust the colour and photo so white objects appear white compensating for different sources. Cameras often offer present options and sometimes it cost an option. I use a white card to balance while automatic weight balance works well cases manual adjustments be here for specific conditions.
Specular reflection
Light hits smooth surface
Creates metered/specular reflection
Diffused reflection
Light bit uneven service
Creates fractured/diffused reflection
