Mood Board definition
A stimulus where you can place your ideas in the form of images and captions.
Triple Stitch definition
Commonly used at the beginning or end of a line of stitch, it consists of stitching over one stitch thrice to secure.
Tie-dye definition
- Pinch the centre of the fabric.
- Gather together and elastic band at intervals.
- Dip paintbrush in dye and paint the fabric.
- Squeeze out extra dye.
- Remove plastic bands and dry.
Design Brief definition
The description of what is required of the finished product.
Fabrics definition
Different materials that are used in textiles.
E-textiles defintion
Fabrics that enable electronic components (lights, sound…) to be embedded into them.
Machine sewing definition
- Turn the stitch selector to zigzag stitch.
- Change the length of your stitch to around 1 or 2 on the dial.
- Change the width of the stitch on the adjacent dial to around 4 or 5.
- Place the fabric, pinned in preparation, under the presser foot at the edge of the fabric complying to the seam allowance.
- Pull down the secured and apply light pressure to the foot pedal to begin sewing, begin with a triple stitch, running stitch and then triple stitch finish.
Tesselate defintion
In textiles, this term describes moving the templates around the fabric to conserve fabric.
Design Specification defintion
A detailed description of the design and materials used to make something.
