Can you tell me the key principles for inclusive design ?

A

As per the Construction Industry Council (“CIC”), the five key principles of inclusive design are-

1.Placing people at the heart of the design process;
2.Acknowledging diversity and difference;
3.Offering choice, where a single solution cannot accommodate all users;
4.Providing flexibility in use; and
5.Creating an environment that is convenient and enjoyable for all to use.

Key topic areas that can help assist in ensuring inclusive design can be achieved (e.g.,)-

1.Equality Act 2010; and
2.The Building Regulations 2010: Approved Document M access to and the use of buildings, Vol. 1- dwellings (2015).
